April 2013 - Mrs Suporn Rujapan stands in her living room next to the "King Rama V" portrait. The paint shows the level reached by the water during the flood in the area. She stayed in her home for the entire duration of the flood. After initially finding herself a victim of the disaster, she quickly grew into a role as front-line leader of her community’s relief efforts, directing government and volunteer resources and becoming a minor media celebrity in the process.
